Types of Ausbildung (Vocational training)
Dual vocational training lasts between two and three and a half years, depending on the profession you have chosen. 70% of vocational training courses are dual.
During this time, you will work in a foundation and also attend a vocational school.
As a rule, you will have lessons a few times a week or for a week after the week. These lessons provide you with important hypothetical information for your work.
(e.g. youth education or nursing) and therefore invest more energy in classes and courses.
The practical part of school-based training generally follows the time spent studying hypotheticals in the classroom.
30% of vocational training is pedagogical. It is not remunerated.
Participants must complete at least one internship in a company.

Duration of Ausbildung
- As a rule, the apprenticeship lasts 2 to 3.5 years, but if your grades are acceptable depending on your appearance in the organization and the vocational school, this period can be shortened.
- In any case, this does not have a major impact as the time frame can be shortened from 3 years to 2.5 years, so it hardly matters.
- The time frame usually depends on several variables, such as which company you work for, which department you are transferred to or which vocational school you attend.
- In any case, there is something important that you absolutely need for the apprenticeship, and that is a command of the German language.
Requirements of the Ausbildung
The language used at the vocational preparation school is German. You will take all examinations in German.
Therefore, you must fulfill the necessary requirements for the German language, e.g. prove level B1/B2.
The most important criterion that most companies check when hiring students from different countries is a good knowledge of German.
More than 90% of companies (with apprenticeship offers) stated that language skills are important in order to complete an apprenticeship class.

- If you are applying for a visa for training, you must provide the following:
- A written confirmation or an agreement with the preparation organization
a sufficient amount of cash (863 euros per month) to cover the cost of living in Germany for the duration of your stay before the start of your training - A valid health insurance policy for the main year or for the period before the start of training
- Monthly payment
Participants in the training receive a monthly payment from the organization where they work. - By and large, they are entitled to a basic monthly payment of EUR 850. Depending on the skills, efficiency of each member and the number of long periods of work per week, the remuneration may be higher.
