One to one approbation:
The education from most EU Countries will be recognized as being equivalent to German medical education and the applicant acquires the approbation.
Approbation equivalent to the German medical education system:
The education from non-EU countries will be tested according to the equivalency. If your education is not equivalent to the German system then you get a job search permit for two years. In these 2 years, you have to make the Gleichwertigkeitsprüfung (equivalency exams for approbation).
In the equivalency check, the competent authority compares your degree with the German medical degree and checks whether there are any significant differences.
The exam relates to the content and duration of the study.
The test relates to the subjects Medical Practice and Special Areas of Law for Medicine as well as to one of the subjects in which the competent authority has identified significant differences.
In order to prepare for this exam, it is advisable to attend a course for doctors in the internship. These classes are offered by the medical chambers
