Approbation Requirements


All applicants with pharmaceutical degrees from outside Germany, need to make approbation in Germany.


Approbation Requirements:

  • Five courses in German:   A1, A2, B1, B2 and C1
  • Each course consists of 100 – 200 hours.
  • Finishing A1 – B1 / B2 in Lebanon.
  • Finishing  B2 – C1 for Apotheker (Pharma).
  • C1 exam at the medical chamber

    (Fachsprachprüfung).


Approbation Types


One to one approbation:


The education from most EU Countries will be recognized as being equivalent to German medical education and the applicant acquires the approbation.


Approbation equivalent to the German medical education system:


The education from non-EU countries will be tested according to the equivalency. If your education is not equivalent to the German system then you get a job search permit for two years. In these 2 years, you have to make the Gleichwertigkeitsprüfung (equivalency exams for approbation).

Gleichwertigkeitprüfung

  • In the equivalency check, the competent authority compares your degree with the German pharmacist degree and checks whether there are any significant differences.
  • The exam relates to the content and duration of the study.
  • The test relates to the subjects Pharmaceutical Practice and Special Areas of Law for Pharmacists as well as to one of the subjects in which the competent authority has identified significant differences.
  • In order to prepare for this exam, it is advisable to attend a course for pharmacists in the internship (PhiP). These classes are offered by the pharmacy chambers
